The source even identified the businessman Louis Biraogo as one of those who benefited from the fund after he reportedly agreed to expose the supposed property of Legarda in the United States. The main purpose of the Cayetano camp’s operation against Legarda and two other top senatorial candidates is for him to be able to get the most number of votes in the May 13 midterm elections, the source claimed.
The demolition job is being carried out through text blast messages containing false information against fellow Team PNoy and even opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) candidates. The camp of Cayetano wants to bring down the survey ratings of other candidates in order for him to get the number 1 post in all pre-election surveys and eventually translate to more votes for him. “The negative campaigning is aimed at bringing down those who are on top of the surveys in order for him [Cayetano] to grab the post,” the source noted.
While the source refused to identify the publicist behind the demolition job, he however, hinted that the group had already worked with Cayetano when he was still a member of the House of Representatives. The group wants to propel the senator to the top as part of his preparation for his plan to run as vice president in the coming 2016 presidential elections. But unknown to the Cayetano’s camp some candidates that have been victimized by the negative campaign were able to trace some of the cell numbers used in sending false information to the public and they were able to connect it with Cayetano.
But despite of the well-funded demolition job, it still failed to propel the senator to the number 1 spot in the surveys. Instead the minority leader dropped to the number 4 slot and is expected to decline further. On Thursday, Legarda in a press conference expressed her dismay over the widespread demolition job against her which is being launched by another candidate. Legarda did not name that candidate but identified public relations man Willie Fernandez as the one behind the demolition job. Legarda already informed Team PNoy campaign manager Franklin Drilon about the matter and he promised to do something about it.
So...is he? Or isn't he?
